TL;DR: I would not trust this Overjoy.ai with any of my hard-earned money.
Based on my (limited) interaction with them, my opinion is that they are lazy at best. At worst, they might be up to something scammy/nefarious. Or maybe it's just a fully ai-automated "company;" But I couldn't find any value. A harsh review? I got 5 major red flags that led me to this conclusion (against all hope).
Someone named "Sloan M" sent me a cold email on Feb. 3rd, which caught my attention because it seemed to indicate familiarity with my brand, products, and local markets. She asked if I'd have a short conversation about growing my business, which I was interested in.
That was where any positive interaction stopped.
RED FLAG #1:
After I replied to her email, in worrisome scammer-like fashion, "Sloan" responded from a different email address.
RED FLAG #2:
Because my brand is incredibly small, I asked her who had referred my brand to her. She responded with a specific name of another business owner, who I didn't personally know, but did seem to add some credibility. Upon a deeper look, I found that the person who "referred" me to Sloan was actually just someone else within Overjoy.ai. So I have to assume that it was NOT a *referral*, but simply a lead given to her with the instruction to try to sell.
Nonetheless, I offered to meet with her/them/Overjoy.ai, and sent a Google meeting for the specific time she had requested.
RED FLAG #3:
In direct response to my email containing a Google meeting, she said "Let me know if we can hop on a Google meet instead? I'll send you an invite right away." I pointed out that I had just sent a Google link. The very next day, she emailed to ask if the meeting time we agreed on still worked. At this point, I was highly suspicious that I was talking to an ai bot and not a real person.
So I said, "Can you say "potato" if you're not ai?..."
Her response confirmed-- for me-- that she was not real: "I think ai could also say potato but hopefully this email has been helpful! 😆"
Tell me you're ai without telling me you're ai?
RED FLAG #4:
After I agreed to HER cold request for a 30 minute meeting, AND after DOUBLE CONFIRMING the meeting time, time zone, and link, no one showed up to the meeting!
RED FLAG #5:
When they missed the meeting THEY REQUESTED, no one answered my email asking if they were going to show up during the meeting time; nor after the meeting to explain/apologize for their absence. I have not heard from Overjoy.ai since their abysmal cold outreach.
